Going deep down into the heart of the rainforest you will find us. Slithering Somewhere Safe is an active and engaged charity situated mostly in the Amazon Rainforest with shelters all around the world established in 1987 to help endangered species of snakes survive the cold, hard, brutal world. By raising money through events and hard work we manage to build shelters, giving the snakes a home where they can eat, sleep and live a peaceful life.

Not only do we build shelters for them, but we also help to stop the treacherous cutting down of rainforests and nature which destroys the poor creatures homes. This is being done through a project - Rescuing Rainforests - we are working on together with the charity WorldWideEcho. Just like you, snakes are creatures with feelings and a heart, just like you snakes deserve a caring home. So donate today, and make sure they get the life they deserve.

Maintaining a high level of biodiversity is important to all life on Earth, including humans, and snakes are an important part of that biodiversity. In Australia for example, snakes and other reptiles make up a significant proportion of the middle-order predators that keep our natural ecosystems working. Without them the numbers of prey species would increase to unnatural levels and the predators that eat snakes would struggle to find food. These things would affect each other and in the end we would have a big problem. Roads and habitat destruction are the biggest threats faced by snake species, and most of the snake species are today endangered.

Snakes are a vital part of planet earth, and so together we can make sure the biodiversity is kept high, innocent creatures aren't harmed and the world is a better place.
