about Snakes

SAVED SNAKES
OUR SHELTERS
Nutrition

Snakes, being carnivores, consume whole prey items. Commonly kept snakes such as boas and pythons usually feed on baby mice, pinkies or lizards. Snakes in the wild prey on mammals, birds, other reptiles, fish, worms and amphibians. We strive to give our snakes a well balanced diet, with all the nutrition they need.

Pet
Habitat

Snakes are found in many different places and habitats around the world. You can find them all around the world, except for Iceland, Greenland, Ireland, New Zealand and Antarctica. Most often they are found in tropical regions. The most normal habitats for them are in the water, forests, deserts and prairies.

Just like we have shelters, you can create your own shelter at home. You can have a snake as a pet. If you come down and visit one of our shelters you are welcome to adopt one to keep as a pet. However, always remember that keeping a snake requires the same commitment and responsibility as keeping any other pet. You are responsible for its well-being and must be willing to expend the time and effort to ensure its proper care.

Allister

Allister is a beautiful African bush viper our team recently found in the rainforest areas of the Sub-Saharan Africa. Her species is nearly extinct and we have done out best to try to save it, Allister being the first.

Spike

Buried deep down under layers of leaves in the heart of the south Asian rainforest areas we found Spike, a playful Chinese Water Snake with it's family almost all died out. Sadly, there only about 3 left of his species.

Monty

The one and only, Monty is one of our longest kept snakes, having been with us for over 21 years now. We found her as a trapped baby in the amazon, and since then we have watched her grow up and grow old.

Pinky

Pinky is an adorable coral snake which we found in the amazon, and is currently living in our shelter there. Unfortunately she is one of the last of her species, but we are doing the best we can to save them.
